Essential design: concrete lamps handmade in Italy
Concrete lamps and homeware, designed and made entirely by hand in Italy by skilled artisans. Behind them is a studio founded in Rome in 2015 by two young architects with a clear idea: a "European" language, shaped as much by Italian design as by Northern European design, where every piece brings together originality and innovation.
The look is all about linearity, simplicity and function: objects that combine a clean design, technical innovation and sustainability.
Handmade in Italy
It all started with a lamp
The first project came about almost by accident, during a late night of work: a lamp made of dodecahedron-shaped elements, one of the Platonic solids. Before becoming an icon it went through a crowdfunding campaign: a modular, magnetic lamp like nothing seen before, where craft and technology get along and leave room for creativity, so you can build original, made-to-measure lighting.
Of the pieces that came after, three are special.
The half-cylinder table lamp
Thanks to its half-cylinder shape it gives two kinds of light, direct and shielded, depending on which way you turn it.
The pendant with industrial roots
It takes the most evocative of industrial lamps and turns it into a refined pendant, where a minimal look meets the handcrafted character of coloured concrete. The ultra-simple shape, the pared-back width and the matt surface make it right for spaces where less is more; the material and colour mean it also sits well in contemporary rooms with a strong personality. Use it on its own to light a specific spot, or in a group for larger spaces.
The wall lamp you build yourself
Use it on its own or in a group to create real light installations on walls and ceilings.
Why you can spot them
The essential design, a surface you can feel under your fingers, the use of colour and plenty of ways to personalise them: that's what makes these objects recognisable. In neutral tones or bright colours, concrete comes into the home no longer as a raw material but as an elegant one, taking the shape of lamps, furnishings and accessories.
