Arabesque Centrepiece

A plate almost forty centimetres wide, in clear glass, with the whole surface worked in relief: arabesques, drops and spirals that catch the light and bounce it around. From afar it looks like lace, up close it's heavy glass.

It sits in the middle of the table with fruit, on the hallway console collecting keys, in the bathroom with the soaps. Even empty it's a piece in its own right, which is the polite way of saying you don't need an excuse to keep it out.
