Coir is obtained from coconut husks, which are left to soak and then worked by hand. Around 25 coconuts go into each doormat, and drying happens naturally in the sun.
It's normal for some fibres to shed, especially at first. To keep it at its best, clean it with a slightly damp cloth or brush, avoiding too much water and direct exposure to sun and rain.
